Meet Our Founder

Passionate Educator and Experienced Tutor

Olive Book was founded by Michael Ermann, a tenured professor at Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture + Design. With a degree in math and over 20 years of university teaching experience, Michael combines his expertise in education and his passion for helping students succeed. Inspired by his volunteer tutoring in public schools, he recognized the need for accessible and effective SAT prep materials.

Before founding Olive Book, Michael created Amber Book, now the dominant platform in the U.S. helping students prepare for the licensure exams that architects need to pass. His experience with Amber Book, his work as a tutor, his years as a professor, his experience as an architect making ideas into visual engagements, and his deep understanding of educational technology provided the foundation for developing a comprehensive and engaging SAT prep course that will net you an additional 140 points.
